“Who in their right mind would say:
‘What I am offering is sufficient to pay the entire debt of my whole family who are imprisoned because of their debt – all of whom I love and want to rescue from prison…
but I will only receive some back from prison — and I am content with that result.’
Such an idea is logically, legally, theologically and morally absurd.”

This essay dismantles the widely repeated formula, “Christ’s death is sufficient for all, but efficient only for the elect,” showing that Scripture never speaks of an atonement that merely makes salvation possible.

The heart of the argument is simple and severe: there is no such thing as atonement that does not actually atone.
